Welcome to the Posh Squash garden

Planting in topsoil, not the mulch.

6/9/2025

Hi gardeners. This is another windy month, and we need to protect our topsoil from blowing away by adding open-ended remay tunnels and covering with forest mulch. Mulch has the weight to withstand the wind while providing evaporation. Here is a video of how to do it. https://youtu.be/KRuLcXDFiE4
The PT is also available to do a demo. Let us know.

Picking rules.

4/6/2025

Pick only what your family will eat in a week. This helps ensure there’s enough for everyone.
Only gardeners who work in the garden in a given week may pick crops. If you haven’t participated in the work, please refrain from harvesting that week.
Additional Guidelines:
  • Wait until crops are tagged as ready for picking. If there’s no “pick tag” at the end of a bed, it means the crop isn’t ready yet—please hold off!
  • Check the weekly "Crop News." Each week, the Planting Team works with Day Leaders and Plant Parents to prepare this update. It tells you which crops are ready for harvest, how much you can pick, and provides any special instructions for harvesting. It will also indicate whether a crop is open for general picking or if it’s a limited crop that will be harvested and distributed by your Day Leader. Be sure to check this before you pick!
  • No bulk harvesting. The garden doesn’t produce enough for large-scale projects like jam-making, pickling, or hosting dinner parties—please keep your harvests modest so everyone can enjoy the garden’s bounty.

We’re so grateful for the time and effort each of you puts into making the Posh Squash such a vibrant and productive community garden. These rules are in place to ensure fairness and allow everyone to share in the rewards of our collective work.

If you have any questions about harvesting or need clarification on any of these rules, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Day Leader.

Thank you for your cooperation.
