Join us at the Posh Squash garden.
Signups are in process for the 2022 session of the Posh Squash. All returning gardeners have signed up, and applications are now available for all new gardeners who have expressed interest. After January 15, we will let people know if we have space for all new members, and we will create a waiting list for those we don't yet have space for. Stay tuned!
The Winter Main Garden Work Parties have been planned for 5 dates this Winter. Come out and join other Gardeners to keep the garden growing over the Winter and enjoy the good company. All Work Parties are open to garden members from all Teams; participants earn ongoing 'Winter Picking Privileges" for the Main Garden Winter crops.
A Garden-wide email will go out confirming times and dates of upcoming Work Party prior to each date, and will announce any postponement dates if inclement weather interferes. A Work Party Chore list will be created just prior to each event and sent to all Dayleaders; a Dayleader(s) from the Hosting Team(s) will be the Work Party Leader that day. Planned dates (subject to change near the date of event, as all are dependent upon on weather conditions): Monday Nov. 15, hosted by the Two Monday Teams, time will be 11 AM - 2 PM. Tuesday 7 December, hosted by the Tuesday Team (time to be announced later) Wednesday 12 January, hosted by the Wednesday Team (time to be announced later) Thursday 10 February, hosted by the Thursday Team (time to be announced later) Friday 25 February, Raspberry Pruning, hosted by the Friday Team(date may be adjusted as it depends on when the Raspberry Pruning is needed; time to be announced later) For Gardeners who would like to work alone, there is a new WINTER CHORE BINDER now in the shed, with a list of the chores that will be needed all winter to care for the Garden. No checklist, just a list of things that need to be done frequently, on an 'as needed' basis. You can also view the Winter Chore List here. **Plant Parents and other Gardeners with ongoing projects will have their own Tasks to attend to; all of them, and those who attend Work party events or work independently over the Winter in various capacities will all earn 'Winter Picking Privileges' The Posh Squash October Harvest Picnic rapidly approaches and we decided that the food should be “finger food” and each family group or person should bring the dish of their choice to share. A lot of appetizers can be served with toothpicks. We feel that most of the food groups will be well represented without assigning different days to certain categories. There will be no electricity at the site to plug into for keeping food hot. Attendees need to bring their own utensils and cups for drinks. Compostable plates will be provided. Tables for serving and eating will be set with tablecloths and many will likely choose to carry a plate and mingle, and this will help with “distancing” for COVID. Attendees should also bring their own beverages and wine to share. Those who are uncomfortable with shared food can bring their own picnic meal.
